Core of Knowledge: Laws and Regulations - Clients Rights, Laws, and Regulations (December 2025)
The purpose of this course is to give individuals in the workplace the knowledge of key laws affecting services for people with developmental disabilities; role of parents and legally authorized representatives; confidentiality; special incident reporting; mandatory reporting of suspected abuse and neglect.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the statutory and regulatory structure of services for people with developmental disabilities
2. Understand and support individual rights and responsibilities
3. Demonstrate correct procedures for mandated reporting requirements
